Recovered from the flu a couple of days ago. For me it was a bit of a marathon virus. Had a fever for 7 days and 3 days I had elevated tempatures. After 6 days I was really fed up with being sick but my body took its sweet time unfortunately. I did have a host of symptons - fever, muscle pains, fatigue, headaches, upset stomach and blowing out the pipes - but it didn't get serious one time. I wonder why we see in the news that so many people died from H1N1 and why some young people perish from this virus. Strange and sad.

Got The Flu

I wash my hands all the time, eat fruit, take vitamin pills. But no, got the flu nonetheless. Guess it started out on friday with musclepains and I didn't think much of it at the time. Saturday morning it became pretty obvious with the shaking and fever. I'll spare you the rest of the more nasty symptons but all in all the flu is still mild.

Firewood

One of the sites I love to check out from time to time is UFOcasebook.com. Lots of films, pictures and stories concerning everything on UFOs. However, I also think the guys who run that website should look a little better at some of the photographs and stories they put up. I watched the photograph above and the first thing that came to mind was; 'bad photoshop.' I mean, just look at it in detail. No way that's a real-life object. I can see the pixel difference between the object and the landscape in a heartbeat. Beware of pranksters is what comes to mind.

Triangle Memories

Personally I've had half a dozen of decent UFO sightings. One of the first I saw was remarkably similar to the picture above although when I saw it, it was way up in the sky and all that I could see was 3 stars - in a perfect triangle - moving from south to north. This was during the time when a UFO flap occured in Belgium and where even some F-16s managed to get some footage. So I guess we're talking 1988-89 here.
I was letting a friend out the door and it was already getting dark. This was, to the best of my recollection, late afternoon in November. I was chatting with my friend just outside the frontdoor and I yawned and stretched myself. Not polite, I know. In any case when I looked up during stretching I suddenly noticed those 3 stars making a triangle - way up in the sky almost directly above me. After a second or two with my eyes still fixed on the object something else happened. Instantly those 3 stars 'go out' and in the center of that object another light 'goes on.' Then a second later it reversed and I'm looking at a triangle formation of 3 stars again. I said to my friend; 'do you see that?' He looks up and remarks; 'indeed I see something.' Next my friend almost started panicking and saying he didn't want to look at it and he excused himself. I waved goodbye to my friend and continued to watch the object move into the distant northern sky until it's out of sight.
The sighting lasted about a minute or so and even from recollection it's pretty hard to estimate altitude, size and speed of the object. It was a cloudless sky with stars already out in abundance. That's why I probably noticed the object against the static stars. And no, it wasn't an airplane. I live closeby a major airport and I see plains taking off and landing practically on a daily basis. Those lights are pretty familiar, as is the sound of the jet engines. Yet the object I saw made no sound whatsoever. Probably the weirdest thing of all was the 'changing of the lights' while I was staring directly at it.

Couple of years later I had another sighting although the circumstances were somewhat different and at the time I didn't give it much attention, untill a few days later that is. It was during the summer months and in the evening that I decided to go out into town. I got on my bicycle and made my way to the city center where all the clubs and bars are. I was riding along side a canal when I noticed a bright pinkish light in the southern skies. It was so bright that it literally lit up the clouds in front and to the back of it. The object was behind a cloud but so bright that the light easily came through it. You get an effect similar to watching mountain ridges in the distance overlapping eachother. My first thought was that it must be fireworks, or somebody shooting up a flare. Pink UFO didn't come to mind that easily. I continued to watch that object until I reached my destination. This was on a saturday and on monday I was browsing through the local newspaper and I come across an article where people had sighted a UFO on saturday evening. Several people claimed they saw a huge pink flying triangle in the sky. It's not unreasonable to assume that it was the same thing that I saw.
I also recall that the pink triangle caused some jokes since the gay movement at that time used to same symbol for their organization. Gay aliens and so on. . .

You know, with the current economic crisis there's a lot of talk in the news that things are turning brighter. On the other hand, some folks say that the worst is still to come. I'm not an economic expert but I ran across these pictures on another forum and the vintage newspaper articles are remarkable, if not identical to what's going on in the media today. Go have a look. Top article is from 1929, bottom from 1934. Seems to me that history is repeating itself.

So Say We All!

Been watching a lot of Battlestar Galactica season 4 lately. Did see it before but just had to buy the dvd box last week. Already got the mini-series and the first 3 seasons so that was a no-brainer. What an awesome show. Every sci-fi fan should have seen this show. Great acting, great story, great SFX. And if you're a guy like me, great babes.

But I'm afraid my fetish runs a bit deeper. Don't know what it is but women in sci-fi have an edge, for me that is. Stick 'em in a spacesuit and I'm sold. But Tricia Helfer and Grace Park did a wonderful job on Battlestar Galactica, and they just happen to look good in bikini as well. Right? So say we all!

Cop Sees Nordics Near Crop Circle

A police officer contacted British UFO experts after seeing three aliens examining a freshly made crop circle near Avebury, Wiltshire.
The sergeant, who has not been named, was off-duty when he saw the figures standing in a field near Silbury Hill, and stopped his car to investigate. However, as he approached the 'men' – all over 6ft tall with blond hair – he heard "the sound of static electricity" and the trio ran away ''faster than any man he had ever seen''.
The officer returned to his home in Marlborough, Wiltshire, and contacted paranormal experts and told them he had spotted a UFO. Wiltshire Police has refused to comment on the incident, saying it is a ''personal matter'' for the officer involved.
Crop circle researcher Andrew Russell, who is investigating the bizarre sighting on behalf of the officer, described the moment his sighting was made. He said: ''At first he thought they were forensic officers as they were dressed in white coveralls. He stopped his car and approached the field. ''The figures were all over 6ft and had blond hair. They seemed to be inspecting the crop. When he got to the edge of the field he heard what he believed to be a sound not dissimilar to static electricity.
''This crackling noise seemed to be running through the field and the crop was moving gently, close to where the noise was.
''He shouted to the figures who, at first, ignored him, not glancing at him. When he tried to enter the field they looked up and began running. ''He said; 'They ran faster than any man I have ever seen. I'm no slouch but they were moving so fast. I looked away for a second and when I looked back they were gone. ''I then got scared. The noise was still around but I got an uneasy feeling and headed for the car. For the rest of the day I had a pounding headache I couldn't shift.'' The bizarre incident occurred on the morning of July 6 this year as the police officer was driving.
The officer claims the three figures were examining a crop circle, which had appeared several days earlier, when he stopped his car and began walking towards them. However, the mysterious beings disappeared when he ''looked away for a second'' and he contacted UFO experts after witnessing other paranormal activity. A spokesman for Wiltshire Police said: ''The police officer was apparently off duty when this happened so we have no comment to make because it is a personal not a police matter.''
Crop circle expert Colin Andrews, who investigated the incident alongside Andrew Russell, said he is ''convinced'' by the police officer's story. He said: ''I am quite convinced the officer had an experience that day and one that we have not fully explored.
''I think with the unusual movement of the being and the poltergeist experiences there is too much additional information to say that is something in nothing.''

Mir UFO

Intriquing footage taken from the Mir space station. To my knowledge rocket boosters or upper stage rockets don't reach that high, and they (launch control) certainly wouldn't bring space objects so close together especially in the middle of a docking procedure. Maybe it's a piece of space debri but it's definitely a UFO, Unidentified Flying Object.

Bad Boy!

Raj Rajaratnam, billionaire and hedgefund manager, couldn't resist the temptation to cheat. He was arrested for leading a group that traded stock with fore-knowledge. Bad boy! Rajaratnam who headed a hedgefund called Galleon - worth 350 billion dollar - is out on the street again after posting bail (100 million dollar). 5 other people were arrested as well. Just goes to show you that scum can wear expensive suits.

White Sands UFO(?) Crash, NM 1996

Saw this video clip in the tv documentary 'Out Of The Blue' and it depicts a crash of some aerial vehicle. The site itself where the footage was taken raises questions about the origin of the object. White Sands is home to a missile range and many new types of missiles and rockets were and are tested there. My guess is that we are looking at a missile here but the footage itself could be easily interpreted as a UFO crashing, and to be honest I'm not totally convinced either way.
Normally a (high explosive) missile would break up on impact immediately and not skid of the ground for a second try. Reading a counter argument from the internet, it could also have been a structurally reinforced missile. Those types that are designed for bunker-busting or ground penetration. Exactly 2 seconds in the video after the object hit the ground and is moving upwards again you can see a line above the light which could very well be dirt picked up from the ground. For a moment I thought it might have shown the upper structure of the craft.
Searching the internet for details surrounding this footage I wasn't able to locate the source. Lots of opinions by people though which are interesting in itself because it shows how people handle the film. Some UFO researchers claimed this was an actual UFO crash, others claim it is a missile test and finally some people claim it was a hoax (by some artist). It takes on many avenues. I'm going to be a coward for now and remain undecided.
