Debunking Korff

Couple of days ago I watched this vid again where Kal Korff claims he's not a debunker or a skeptic, instead he claims to be a researcher. I beg to differ. Simply stating something doesn't make it so. In Korff's case it's not unusual to come to the conclusion that he is in fact a debunker. Why? You simply look at the results of his actions. Korff claims to be a researcher but to my knowledge every conclusion he makes, given a UFO case, is one of denial and that makes him a debunker, and not an objective researcher.
For the life of me I can't recall Kal Korff speaking in a positive manner about a UFO case. I might be mistaken but I simply haven't seen a positive remark or conclusion, period. According to Korff, Kenneth Arnold saw meteorites. The Phoenix lights were flares deployed by the Air Force. Nothing going on at Area 51. Nothing going on with Roswell. In other paranormal areas such as Bigfoot and conspiracy theories such as the assassination of JFK, Korff also claims nothing out of the ordinary transpired. Those kind of conclusions and the way he approaches these subjects put him in the category of a debunker, in my opinion

Korff is quite fond off using the dictionary when it comes to being called a debunker. Strangely enough he doesn't like to be called one and uses the dictionary in his defense. I find it strange that Korff doesn't come out of the closet on this, anyway, here's the definition of a debunker straight out of the dictionary;

While debunking means you take the bunk out of a claim, it doesn't automatically imply the person doing the debunking is right. And this is where Korff beats around the bush. A person can also debunk out of his or her convictions. That's where the ufological interpretation of a debunker stems from, a person who debunks UFOs no matter what information is layed in front of them. Looking at Korff's actions and conclusions he seems to fit right in the ufological interpretation.
Setting the standard where it suits you also exposes a debunker, or in other words a biased 'researcher'. Korff has done this many times. In the Phoenix Lights he ignored many testimonies where people claimed they saw a huge craft. Roswell testimonies are denied as impaired memories yet in the Bigfoot case eyewitness testimonies of people who claimed to have worn a gorilla-suit some 30 - 40 years ago (with no physical evidence) are endorsed.
A debunker uses that which helps their point, and disregards elements that doesn't support his or her preconcieved notions. You only have to look at the methodology, and in my opinion that clearly points to Kal Korff being a debunker.

'X' Zone Payback

Seems like Rob McConnell from the 'X' Zone radio show had enough of Kal Korff. The latter did have a regular spot on the programming called 'Kal's Korner', but rather suddenly vanished from the schedule. McConnell did receive some criticisement from certain folks who disliked Korff but that's probably not the reason why Korff got booted. In all likelyhood Korff made promises he didn't keep (on a regular basis), combined with a number of fantastic claims resulted in Korff's bad standing. (There's also the episode where Korff challenged Kevin Randle to a debate and Korff didn't show up.) In any case, the headlines are pretty clear cut.

Debunker Kal Korff Strikes (Out) Again

From time to time I check out Kal Korff's website, mostly for its entertainment value. "Colonel" Kal manages to get into an argument with just about anybody in ufology, predominately with the 'pro' people eventhough some of them are moderate. That's 'funny' enough but his remarks on UFO cases are hilarious in that he comes up with explanations that put him firmly in the mindless debunker category. Here's what Korff had to say about the Kenneth Arnold sighting which unofficially started the modern UFO era;

. . .in honor of the anniversary of the imaginary 'alien invasion' of 1947 when Kenneth Arnold mistook seven meteors for what the press later termed 'flying saucers.'

That's quite a statement considering what Kenneth Arnold reported and don't seem to indicate meteors. Here's a report from another website. Arnold reported seeing 9 objects travelling at high speed between two mountains. The objects were moving horizontal and seemed to skip. Kal Korff claims that these were meteorites (and he wasn't even there) yet Arnold reported that one object looked like a crescent shaped craft. And Kal, meteorites tend to crash into the ground especially if they are in relatively low orbit and relatively low speed.
Another marble from Korff was this statement;

. . . and certainly the non-mysterious Phoenix Lights. The Discovery Channel DISPROVED the Phoenix Lights, just like they did the myth of Area 51 having anything to do with "UFOs." I know because I was in both documentaries, and filmed for the second one specifically, consulting on both.

The Phoenix Lights had many eyewitnesses. There's the 'flare explanation' but many people also claimed to have seen a huge craft. There is something mysterious about it. Too many people reported seeing unusual things. But leave it up to Kal Korff to decide what the people experienced. Area 51 is also quite the mystery which Korff brushes aside with great ease. But then again Korff is a debunker. He claims to want to know the truth about UFOs but every time he looks at a case he comes up with explanations that deny it. Pathetic.

Debunker Kal Korff Goes A Little LaLa

Kal Korff, a figure in ufology noted for his debunking efforts on Bigfoot, UFOs, Roswell and the JFK assassination apparently has gone a little lala. In the past Kal has made tv appearences on shows such as Larry King and other documentaries. Both skeptics and UFO believers alike surely have come across this man's 'work' once in a while. Korff mostly received praise from skeptics since his work often if not always was focused on debunking a (paranormal) phenomenon. The last 3 years however Korff managed to alienate even the skeptics with his outlandish claims, begging the question if Korff has lost his marbles.

Three years ago Korff claimed he was an officer in the Israeli Special Secret Services and even had a picture taken as proof! (See top.) Naturally some people didn't accept the picture as proof positive and neither did Korff in the past with his debunking efforts on other material. On a sidenote, that is what you can expect with debunkers - double standards. Inquiries on the internet concerning the Special Secret Services came up completely empty outside of Korff's own websites.
Since no official evidence could be found some people questioned the authenticity of Korff's claims and were subsequently reprimanded and later on even attacked by nutty Kal. Korff gave off the appearance that his S3 was an official (military) organization yet it took months if not years for Korff to (vaguely) admit that it was a 'private' organization' and non-existent in the "linear sense". His credibility had already suffered by then.

Sadly that wasn't all. Kal Korff made a number of claims which made him sound more like a hoaxer or a fraud. Here are a few;
* Has a $25,000,000 budget to work with to pursue UFO frauds.
* Has a 500 book deal!
* Is a Captain (now Colonel) in the Special Secret Services and works in anti-terrorism as a SAPSTOE (Special Activities Planning Strategies Tactics Operations Execution).
* Was a consultant to the OJ Simpson criminal prosecution team and an expert witness for the defense in the OJ Simpson civil trial.

In the end Kal managed to do something extraordinary. A debunker debunking himself. Now that's a little LaLa.
